Addition to 9/26 HW

From the read aloud today in class, I have noticed that even a simple childrens book can express our global situation. I forgot the name of the Dr. Seuss book that was read but the Lorax character, in my opinion symbolized that little voice in our heads telling us to do right but we then buy another article of expensive clothing or we would driive our car. The more we please ourselves the more we forget about that little voice and thats why the Lorax leaves.

Hw: September 26, 2006

Essential Question - How come it's not in our basic knowledge to know about Globalization and the simple facts that affect our world?

My Point Of View - It seems as though we humans are ignorant and even though I act the same way, we tend to please our needs not thinking how much it affects our world in a global scale.

Evidence -
1) "An Inconvenient Truth" (Al Gore Movie): The significance of the movie is to open the eyes of many people of different races. To show radical changes in our environment caused by pollution.
2) Over Flowing Trashcans and The Sewage System: The way the city gets rid of its dump is a process, which we don't even think about. Would anyone really know where all that trash is going or where the dirty sewage is being placed.

Power Down Hw # 1 (Precis and Analysis)

Precis of Intro.

It's obvious to see tht due to advancement in technology and increase of population, every aspect of our life connects to the burning of fossil fuels. We humns are also so ignorant and blind to see many signs of our environment and our heighboring animals dying.

Analysis

To whatever message this artcle or excerpt expresses, I am totally behind it. It opened my eyes to realize how we are affecting our environment just to suit our technological pleasures. Back in the day humans uses the knowledge from what their parents or teacher tells them and currently we are one-button away to research nuclear chemistry.

In the present days every aspect of our life are made with burnt fossil fuels. "The walls ad fabrics that sorround me are mostly made of ossil fuels," page 2. Machines manufacture the clothes on our back. Machines waould not run without energy. Our shelters are built with big machines, which burn gallons of diesel fuel.

This passage also points out how we are blind to see the signs, researches of other scientist and articles of how we are impacting our sorroundings. Yes, it is important to hear about car bombings but we should take in consideration that there are ournalist and scientist telling us to conserve energy. Instead we are brainwash with non-sense reality TV shows.
